I must begin by stating that this author was a professor of mine a few years ago. Her course was extraordinary. Looking back I wished I had secretly recorded every session. Since I did not and as there is no time machine, I am thrilled that she gave us this remarkable text. If you are new to the genera this is a perfect place to begin your reading. If you have a long-term love for music and magic on the screen, again, you will find this a way to nourish that affection. I would never admit to Jeanine, that her examination of an Astaire and Rodgers number made me tear up, but I will say it made me go back and visit that wonderful number.I hope if you choose to read the book, that you have your own collection of musicals or a nearby library that will let you borrow magic. If not, then you may want to consider your bank account as Jeanine will make you want to start collecting, so that with her, you can revisit some of film’s most wonderful moments. NO, I was neither requested nor paid by the author to write this. Have a read and a viewing and an open; willingness to suspend your disbelief and for the rest of the winter you will have evenings of pure smiles
